| "Tour de Lumiere" was so named because I wanted the painting to transcend the Tour de France and Lance Armstrong madness. To me, it is about the light that all the brave cyclists are pedaling towards. It is about their hope, and their belief in themselves that each person is capable of miracles. I have to admit that I, too, enjoy getting on my bike and careening around the countryside. As a painter, it is a great way to see private landscapes that you otherwise miss is an automobile. |
